• THINK TANK PUBLIC PROGRAMME

  • (2012-2021)

Events • Courses • Community • Wellbeing

Across its decade as a year-round cultural space, the Think Tank developed a rolling public programme of talks, feasts, an alternative public library, artist surgeries, mentoring, publishing, discussion groups, symposia, gigs, film screenings, coffee mornings, artist residencies and communal eating. This activity ran alongside Robert’s own studio-based practice and the work of Think Tank Associates.

Much of the programme was free or very low cost, and over time the Think Tank grew from what might initially have been seen as a niche art-world offer into a welcoming and accessible destination for large numbers of local people. Its year-round programme brought international artists and ideas into the building, while also providing a space for local participation, conversation and exchange. Much of this activity informed the development of future SPILL Festivals, while also standing as a body of work and programme in its own right.
